Lex Fridman Expresses Admiration for Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ahead of Podcast
Lex Fridman is expressing great admiration for Prime Minister Narendra Modi as he prepares for a podcast with one of the globe’s most renowned leaders. Fridman has described the PM as “one of the most fascinating human beings” he has encountered in his research.
The distinguished AI researcher and podcaster has announced his intention to visit India to engage in a discussion with the Prime Minister in late February. In anticipation of this podcast, Fridman plans to undergo a 48 to 72-hour fast, motivated by Modi’s extensive history of conducting multi-day fasts for spiritual purposes.
In a post shared on X (formerly known as Twitter), Fridman conveyed his enthusiasm about the forthcoming conversation. He stated that, “Narendra Modi is one of the most fascinating human beings I have ever studied. I can’t wait to talk to him on a podcast for several hours in a few weeks.”
Fridman highlighted his fascination not only with the intricate history of India but also with Modi’s personal experiences. He commented, “On top of the complex, deep history of India, and his role in it, just the human side of Modi is really interesting. For example, he has often engaged in multi-day fasts (9+ days) for spiritual reasons. I fast often as well. So I’ll do a 48-72 hour fast once I arrive in India before talking to him.” Fridman noted that the fasting period would serve as an opportunity for meditation and introspection, sharing his feelings of being “incredibly lucky” to experience beauty and love amidst the darker aspects of existence.
This upcoming podcast featuring Modi follows the Prime Minister’s recent appearance on a podcast by Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath. Modi is known for his interactions with global technology innovators, previously engaging in discussions about AI adoption with Perplexity AI CEO Aravind Srinivas. In response to Fridman’s announcement, Srinivas remarked, “He’s awesome!”
Fridman is recognised for hosting influential personalities on his podcast, including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, US President Donald Trump, Amazon’s Jeff Bezos, and Elon Musk. His conversation with Modi is anticipated to add yet another distinguished name to his roster.
