Accel and Google Partner for AI Startups Initiative

Accel has teamed up with Google to introduce a co-investment initiative designed specifically for early-stage artificial intelligence startups in India. This programme will be facilitated through Accel’s Atoms accelerator and Google’s AI Futures Fund.

Under this initiative, each selected startup can receive up to $2 million in co-investment from both Accel and Google. The focus of the programme is on startups creating AI solutions within India or by founders of Indian descent targeting global markets.

Benefits for Selected Startups

Startups chosen for the 2026 cohort will enjoy various advantages, including access to Google Cloud credits, cutting-edge models from Gemini and DeepMind, technological mentorship, and product support from Google. Additionally, strategic backing from Accel will enhance their growth prospects.

The Atoms Programme History

Accel has operated the Atoms programme for four years, supporting a diverse range of industries. So far, it has provided backing to 40 companies via Atoms, which have collectively amassed over $300 million in follow-on funding.

Global Tech Firms’ Interest in Indian AI

This partnership underscores the increasing commitment from global technology companies to support AI innovation originating from India. The country’s AI market is expected to expand significantly in the forthcoming years, making it a crucial player in the global technology landscape.

Application Process

The programme is slated to launch in 2026 and invites early-stage startups to apply through the Accel Atoms channel.
