Kuku Technologies Expands AI Content Production
Kuku Technologies, the parent entity behind Kuku FM and Kuku TV, is setting up an AI-driven content production team comprising 1,000 members as part of its strategy to expand its microdrama sector worldwide, as per insights from industry insiders. The organisation has already recruited nearly 200 individuals for the Mumbai unit and aims to grow this workforce to approximately 1,000 by the conclusion of the current financial year, according to sources.
The recruitment process is taking place as Kuku has confidentially submitted initial IPO documents to the market regulator SEBI for a public offering potentially worth up to Rs 3,500 crore. The company aims for an estimated valuation of around $1.8 billion through this IPO.
New AI-led Production Team
Kuku is integrating writers, directors, and engineers into its new AI-centred division. Writers will be tasked with crafting narratives and dialogues, filmmakers will direct the visual aspects, while engineers will develop AI technologies that ensure narrative consistency across extended series.
Cost Efficiency and Productivity with AI
Kuku anticipates that AI will significantly reduce microdrama production expenses to between 30-50% of those in China, estimating production costs below $100 per minute compared to over $150 in China. Additionally, AI-assisted production can enable a single individual to produce approximately 20 minutes of operational video in one day, in contrast to about one minute achievable through traditional filming methods.
Kuku opted not to provide a comment when approached for input.
