Cloud kitchen operator Curefoods has elevated Gokul Kandhi to the position of Chief Operating Officer (COO). Kandhi joined Curefoods in 2017, contributing to various operational roles throughout his tenure. Curefoods stated that Kandhi will be instrumental in guiding the company’s strategic direction, driving operational efficiency, and enhancing its extensive range of brands across India.
With more than 18 years of expertise in startups, retail, and the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector, Kandhi holds significant industry experience. Previously, he served as a business manager at Apple, concentrating on the accessories division. His career also includes valuable periods at PepsiCo, Metro, Manipal Education Services, and Wipro.
At Curefoods, Kandhi has played a pivotal role, helping to expand brands such as EatFit, CakeZone, Nomad Pizza, Sharief Bhai Biryani, and Frozen Bottle. Presently, Curefoods operates over 500 cloud kitchens and offline stores, providing more than 10 different cuisines across 40 cities in the country.
In a statement, Kandhi expressed that he is honoured to assume the COO role at Curefoods, indicating his eagerness to lead the upcoming growth phase for a company that has set benchmarks in India’s food and beverage sector. He looks forward to collaborating with an outstanding team to broaden their reach, strengthen brand presence, and provide exceptional experiences to customers.
Founded in 2020 by Ankit Nagori, a former Flipkart executive and co-founder of Cult.fit, Curefoods has successfully raised over $120 million in equity funding from prominent investors including Accel, Sixteenth Street Capital, and Iron Pillar. The company manages a diverse portfolio of brands, including Eatfit, Chaat Street, Millet Express, Olio Pizza, and Nomad Pizza.
Recently, Curefoods announced its plans to acquire the rights to sell Krispy Kreme in India. Reports in October indicated that Curefoods was engaged in discussions with Landmark Group regarding these rights prior to an expected funding round. This deal is anticipated to propel Curefoods’ growth by leveraging Krispy Kreme’s well-established customer base and operational infrastructure. Additionally, Landmark Hospitality Services Limited will acquire a stake in Curefoods India as part of this agreement.
