4baseCare: Pioneering Precision Oncology Funding and Expansion
Bengaluru-based precision oncology startup 4baseCare has successfully raised Rs 128 crore ($13.3 million) in funding. This sum includes a recent top-up round of Rs 38 crore, led by growX Ventures and Infosys, alongside contributions from existing investors. This latest investment follows a previous raise of Rs 90 crore during the initial close of its Series B round from notable investors such as Ashish Kacholia, Lashit Sanghvi, and Yali Capital.
The fresh capital is aimed at enhancing 4baseCare’s genomics laboratory network on a global scale and fortifying its AI-based oncology platform. The startup’s mission is to improve accessibility to precision oncology for underserved populations in India, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Latin America, and other emerging markets.
A Vision for Advanced Cancer Diagnostics
Founded in 2019 by Hitesh Goswami and Kshitij Rishi, 4baseCare specializes in genomics-driven cancer diagnostics and AI-enhanced clinical decision support solutions. Its flagship offering, OncoTwin, assists oncologists in obtaining treatment insights by leveraging clinico-genomic and real-world patient data.
Global Reach and Laboratory Expansion
Currently, 4baseCare operates laboratories in India, Dubai, Nepal, and the Philippines. The company has plans to expand into 8 to 10 additional countries within the next 12 to 18 months. Moreover, it is broadening its in-hospital genomics lab model through collaborations with healthcare institutions such as AIIMS Jammu, Max Healthcare, and Shankara Hospital.
Increasing Demand for Genomic Testing
4baseCare performs approximately 1,500 genomic tests monthly, anticipating that this volume will rise to between 8,000 and 10,000 tests per month as the company expands its operations. Investor engagement in cancer-focused startups has been on the rise in recent years. For instance, last year, Everhope Oncology gathered $10 million in seed funding, while MOC Cancer Care & Research Centre attracted $18 million, led by Elevation Capital. Other funded startups include ErlySign, OnCare, and OneCell Diagnostics.
