Amazon Now Expands Quick Commerce Services in India

Amazon Now is significantly enhancing its quick commerce offerings by launching over 100 Urban Fulfillment Centers (UFCs) throughout India. This initiative aims to broaden the availability of products on the platform while strengthening its rapid delivery infrastructure.

The new Urban Fulfillment Centers are anticipated to provide four times the variety of products currently offered on Amazon Now. This expansion will include numerous categories such as apparel, electronics, jewellery, footwear, luggage, watches, furniture, musical instruments, groceries, personal care items, baby products, pet supplies, and health supplements. Customers can expect deliveries within minutes.

This announcement precedes Prime Day 2026 and follows the prior disclosure about Amazon Now’s growth plan to reach 100 cities through a network of more than 1,000 micro-fulfilment centres. The initial rollout of Urban Fulfillment Centers will take place in cities like Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi NCR, Hyderabad, and Mumbai.

Abhinav Singh, Vice President of Operations at Amazon India, APAC, Middle East, Africa, and Turkiye, remarked that customers value the speed, convenience, and selection available on Amazon.in. As the company continues to develop Amazon Now, it remains dedicated to delivering a wider range of products, greater value, and quicker delivery options across all categories.

The new larger facilities are intended to complement Amazon’s existing micro-fulfilment network by keeping a more extensive array of products nearer to the customers. This expansion is part of Amazon’s previously announced investment exceeding Rs 2,800 crore, aimed at enhancing its operational infrastructure as well as initiatives for employee safety and well-being.

Additionally, the company spotlighted its Ashray programme, which offers rest centres for delivery personnel. Amazon recently outlined plans to increase the count of Ashray centres from 100 to 250 by 2026.

This expansion transpires in response to the intensifying competition within the quick commerce sector from competitors including Blinkit, Zepto, Instamart, Flipkart Minutes, and BigBasket.
