Aquapulse: Transforming Shrimp Aquaculture and Seafood Exports
Bhubaneswar-based shrimp aquaculture and seafood export startup Aquapulse has successfully secured Rs 45 crore in a funding round led by NABVENTURES through its AgriSURE Fund. IAN Alpha Fund also participated in this funding. The capital raised will be channelled into enhancing farm-level technology and disease management, expanding the farmer procurement network throughout eastern India, scaling processing and export operations, and improving working capital infrastructure.
Aquapulse’s Innovative Approach
Founded in 2023 by Abhishek and Abhilash Dwivedy, Aquapulse operates a technology-driven procurement platform that connects small shrimp farmers directly to both domestic and international markets. The startup engages with farmers from Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, and West Bengal using an aquapreneur-led hub-and-spoke model.
Comprehensive Support for Farmers
Aquapulse offers a suite of services to farmers, including water quality monitoring, feed management, disease early-warning systems, harvesting coordination, and market access. The company also incorporates pre-harvest support along with processing and export logistics into a traceable supply chain framework.
Export Markets and Industry Impact
The startup primarily exports shrimp to countries such as China, Vietnam, and Japan, in addition to catering to domestic institutional and modern trade clients. As per the company’s data, India’s seafood exports reached $8.28 billion in 2025, with a considerable portion coming from shrimp products.
Addressing the Needs of Smallholder Farmers
Aquapulse is committed to resolving challenges faced by smallholder shrimp farmers, which include fragmented market access, limited adoption of technology, pricing instability, and traceability demands from global buyers. Sarika Saxena, Managing Partner at IAN Alpha Fund, remarked that Aquapulse’s farm-to-port platform enhances transparency, traceability, and market access, effectively tackling inefficiencies in the aquaculture value chain.
