BharatPe Enhances Leadership Team with Key Paytm Executives
Fintech leader BharatPe is expanding its senior management by recruiting two experienced professionals from Paytm to take on critical product and engineering roles. Sources close to the matter revealed that Kamal Sharma, previously an AVP in Engineering at Paytm, has joined BharatPe as AVP, Engineering for the Consumer division. His onboarding is already confirmed.
In addition, the firm is preparing to welcome Yugal Tiwari, the former Senior VP of Product at Paytm, as its new Chief Product Officer. Tiwari’s entry into BharatPe is anticipated soon.
Sharma brings over eight years of engineering expertise from Paytm, having made notable contributions throughout his tenure. In May 2023, he took on a role at Kotak Mahindra Bank as SVP, Engineering, before returning to Paytm in January 2025 as AVP in Engineering. Tiwari has held various leadership positions focused on product development at both Paytm and Paytm Payments Bank. After a stint at CRED starting in April 2022, he returned to Paytm in May 2024.
Sources confirm that both leaders will be integral members of BharatPe’s senior leadership team, with Sharma already on board while Tiwari is expected to join shortly. The inclusion of Tiwari follows the departure of Rohan Khara, who served as CPO until June this year, overseeing both product and marketing strategies during his tenure.
Reports indicate that Ankur Jain, former CPO of BharatPe and founder of Jivi.ai, was in talks to return as CPO; however, these discussions did not proceed successfully.
These appointments reflect BharatPe’s ongoing strategy to strengthen its leadership through experienced hires from Paytm. In October 2025, BharatPe appointed Ajit Kumar, who was formerly a Senior Vice President of Engineering at Paytm, as Chief Technology Officer.
Paytm has opted not to provide comments regarding this development. BharatPe and Kamal Sharma have been approached for statements, although Yugal Tiwari remains unavailable for comment.
Additionally, BharatPe has fortified its leadership structure in recent months, having appointed Himanshu Verma as Head of its POS business in March 2026. Based in Delhi, BharatPe is eyeing a potential IPO by the end of FY27 or mid-FY28.
Supported by Coatue Management alongside other investors, BharatPe currently serves a client base of over 10 million merchants through its diverse payments and financial services platform. The company reported a profit of Rs 6 crore on operating revenue of Rs 1,800 crore for FY25, with results for FY26 yet to be disclosed.
