BioStack Secures $9.5 Million for Healthcare Data Infrastructure
BioStack, a pioneering startup in healthcare technology, has successfully obtained $9.5 million in a seed funding round. This funding was spearheaded by Peak XV, Afore Capital, DCVC, Emerson Collective, SV Angel, Verdict Capital, Streamlined Ventures, and Y Combinator. The new investment is aimed at facilitating BioStack’s international expansion, advancing technology development, and enhancing its engineering and research teams.
Expanding Healthcare Data Network
BioStack is in the process of establishing a robust healthcare data infrastructure network that will span across countries including the US, India, Brazil, and Argentina. This network will provide access to over 100 million de-identified patient records.
Connecting Clinical Information
Founded by Sanat Mishra, BioStack focuses on integrating fragmented clinical information from various hospitals and healthcare systems. This integration aims to create comprehensive longitudinal patient records that include clinical notes, laboratory results, medical imaging, medication lists, treatment histories, and patient outcomes.
Utilising De-identified Clinical Data
The company leverages proprietary datasets derived from de-identified clinical data to fuel medical research, facilitate drug development, and improve the training and evaluation of healthcare AI models. BioStack’s platform is tailored for various applications, such as disease modelling, biomarker discovery, patient stratification, and analysing treatment responses.
Aggregation of Clinical Records
BioStack asserts that it has compiled several hundred thousand X-rays, MRI and CT scans, along with millions of telehealth audio transcripts and other clinical records. In India, the startup is also playing a crucial role in connecting cancer patients with an investigational cancer vaccine programme.
Customised Workflows for Healthcare Providers
Furthermore, BioStack’s platform integrates workflows that are specifically designed for individual healthcare providers, ensuring adherence to their data privacy protocols.
