Definedge Secures Rs 22 Crore in Pre-Series A Funding

Definedge, a fintech and brokerage startup, has successfully raised Rs 22 crore in a pre-Series A funding round, bringing its total funding to Rs 30 crore. This round featured ongoing support from existing investors Nitin Agarwal and D. Prasad, as well as the addition of new backers Anant Jain and Sachin Kasera.

Earlier, the Pune-based startup concluded its inaugural institutional and angel investment round in November last year, which was led by notable industry figures including Hemant Luthra, Ajay Srivastava, D. Prasad, Nitin Agarwal, and Madhusudan N. Sarda.

Definedge plans to allocate the newly acquired funds towards enhancing its infrastructure and enabling low-latency execution. The funds will also support the scaling of its flagship trading products, Zone and Opstra, expansion of Algostra into a no-code retail algo-trading platform in India, and the development of Momentify, transitioning it from a systematic investing tool to a wealth creation platform, as stated in a recent press release.

Overview of Definedge’s Operations

Co-founded in 2021 by Prashant Shah and Rajesh Badiye, Definedge runs an extensive wealth-tech ecosystem boasting over 14 platforms. These include Opstra, Zone, Algostra, Momentify, and Gurukul, which offer a variety of trading, investing, research, and educational tools for retail traders and investors.

As part of its goals, Definedge aims to achieve Rs 5,000 crore in assets under management (AUM) through Momentify within the next 24 months, significantly increasing from its current AUM of Rs 1,000 crore. Additionally, the startup intends to expand its Gurukul learning ecosystem tailored for retail traders.

Future Plans and Technological Advances

Definedge is set on enhancing its technology, services, and operational framework to cater to a larger clientele. Focus will also be directed towards adopting AI platforms like Momentify and Algostra, which assist users in employing a systematic method to trading and investing.

The startup has reported a significant growth in its user base, marking a 125% increase over the past 14 months and a tenfold rise over the last 36 months.

Funding Landscape for Indian Fintech Startups

In the first half of 2026, Indian fintech startups amassed approximately $2 billion across 106 funding rounds, reflecting a 42% year-on-year increase.

Within the brokerage and wealth-tech space, key players include Groww, Zerodha, Angel One, Upstox, and Dhan. Emerging platforms like Sahi, Trackk, and Zomint are appealing to younger and novice investors by offering trading, analytics, and wealth-management solutions.

Sahi secured $33 million in funding this year, while Trackk and Zomint are currently engaged in fundraising negotiations. Navi also raised $100 million from Prosus, serving as its inaugural institutional funding round, and the wealth-management platform Centricity collected $27 million in the same month.

This sector is expanding beyond Indian equities, with firms like Groww, Zerodha, Angel One, and Upstox attaining IFSCA approvals to facilitate international equity investing through GIFT City.
