Eeki Agritech Startup Secures $7 Million Investment
Eeki, an agritech startup, has successfully raised $7 million from Sixth Sense Ventures, marking a significant funding boost after over three years of hiatus for the Kota-based company. Earlier in 2022, Eeki had raised $6.5 million during its Series A funding round, which was led by General Catalyst. Additionally, a few months before this, the startup garnered $2 million in a funding round facilitated by Avaana Capital and others.
Utilization of the New Funds
The recent funding will primarily be directed towards expanding Eeki’s climate-resilient farming operations throughout India. Furthermore, it will assist in the rollout of the company’s Gen 3 aeroponic growing chambers, bolster research and development efforts, and broaden the farming footprint of Eeki.
Innovative Farming Model
Founded by Abhay Singh and Amit Kumar, Eeki is dedicated to establishing a scalable and sustainable food production system. The startup employs a unique agricultural model that cultivates pesticide-free staple vegetables all year long, even on barren land, through its patented climate-controlled aeroponic chambers. In this innovative aeroponic system, plant roots are suspended in the air and receive a nutrient-rich mist, resulting in water savings of up to 95% compared to traditional farming methods, while providing meticulous control over growing conditions.
Cost-Effective and High-Yield Farming
This advanced method enables Eeki to produce vegetables at costs comparable to traditional agriculture, while achieving higher yields and consistent quality. The firm prioritises the production of vegetables with enhanced nutritional value and seeks to tackle environmental issues such as soil degradation and water scarcity.
Positive Environmental Impact
Eeki’s farms can be established in non-arable regions, thereby alleviating the pressure on valuable fertile farmland and ensuring that local, fresh produce remains accessible.
