Evera Cabs Strengthens Position with Electric Cab Repossession

Evera Cabs (Prakriti Mobility) has commenced the repossession of 500 electric cabs that were previously operated by BluSmart, following the suspension of BluSmart’s operations in major metropolitan areas. With 220 vehicles already reclaimed and the remaining 280 set to be acquired soon, Evera is reinforcing its standing as a premier electric cab service provider, particularly in the airport mobility sector.

The company has expressed ambitions of acquiring an additional 1,000 BluSmart cabs, as indicated in a recent press release. This initiative comes on the heels of BluSmart’s halting of services in significant cities such as Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Delhi. The company, which is backed by BP Ventures and Mayfield, is also experiencing protests from its drivers over unpaid wages and job insecurities.

Evera operates as an all-electric, app-based taxi service and has been servicing Indira Gandhi International Airport since 2022, focusing on the B2B segment. The repossession of BluSmart’s cabs via its lenders is a component of a comprehensive strategic plan by Evera to expand its presence in the high-demand airport cab market in NCR. The initial stage of this plan involves the redeployment of these electric vehicles to bolster operations, particularly near Indira Gandhi International Airport.

According to the company, alongside the integration of the fleet, a considerable number of BluSmart drivers are transitioning to Evera. Approximately 150 drivers are already active in completing trips.

In the subsequent phase, Evera intends to intensify its airport network expansion, aiming to offer services across all terminals at Delhi’s airport. Previously, Evera operated solely from Terminal 3, but the addition of new vehicles will facilitate full-terminal coverage, enhancing availability and reducing wait times for commuters.
