Flipkart Minutes Celebrates Two Years of Rapid Growth
Flipkart Minutes has marked two years of successful operations. This quick commerce platform has experienced a fourfold increase year-on-year and has expanded to nearly 1,200 micro fulfillment centres in over 150 cities. Since its launch in August 2024, around 60% of its clientele return for additional purchases on Flipkart Minutes. The initiative has also generated more than 400,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities since inception.
Expansion into New Markets
The platform has significantly broadened its reach in Tier II and smaller cities, boasting a staggering 25 times annual growth in its customer base. Notable markets highlighted by the company include Ambala, Barabanki, Bhagalpur, Durgapur, Kanpur, Roorkee, Siliguri, Salem, and Tiruppur. In these regions, consumers are seeking a variety of products, extending beyond daily essentials to include Korean noodles, sauces, ready-to-eat meals, as well as premium skincare and personal care items.
Growing Demographics
Gen Z represents an increasingly important customer segment for Flipkart Minutes. Over the previous 12 months, this demographic has increased nearly fivefold. Gen Z now accounts for over 45% of orders in beauty, electronics, gaming, wearables, fragrances, health and nutrition, and grooming. Furthermore, they are responsible for one in three gourmet orders.
Product Range Development
Kunal Gupta, senior vice president and head of Flipkart Minutes, noted that the platform has extended its offerings from basic necessities to an extensive selection of product categories and shopping occasions.
Gourmet and specialty groceries, introduced within the past year, have seen an eightfold growth. Men’s grooming and pet food categories have also thrived, growing nearly six and five times year-on-year, respectively. Notably, the largest order on the platform to date reached a value of Rs 6 lakh, including five smartphones.
Collaborations and Sustainability Efforts
Flipkart Minutes has established partnerships with approximately 500 direct-to-consumer brands since its launch in August 2024. Additionally, collaborations with Farmer Producer Organisations enable a direct connection between thousands of farmers and consumers.
The company has reported that an increasing portion of last-mile deliveries is being executed using electric vehicles. This initiative is complemented by the introduction of battery swapping infrastructure at micro fulfillment centres. Moreover, lighter compostable and biodegradable packaging has been launched across key categories of fruits and vegetables.
