Frontier Tech Capital: Pioneering Investment in Southeast Asia

Frontier Tech Capital is a newly established private equity platform aiming to create a fund of $150 million to support growth-stage companies throughout Southeast Asia. Almost half of this fund has already been secured from investors across Singapore, Japan, and the UAE.

Founders and Strategic Leadership

The firm has been co-founded by Pawan Gandhi, known for founding the IoT platform KaHa, alongside Brijesh Pande, a former executive at Citi, and Razat Gaurav, the CEO of the US-based Plainview. Manoj Kohli, who previously led SoftBank India, has also joined the team to spearhead the strategy for India.

Investment Focus and Strategy

In contrast to early-stage venture capital firms, Frontier Tech Capital will concentrate on scale-up businesses that have revenues exceeding $50 million and clear strategies for achieving profitability. The fund intends to invest in between 10 to 15 companies within sectors such as agritech, manufacturing technology, and creative industries, including gaming and animation. With an investment horizon of eight years, the firm is prepared to offer patient capital for regional expansion.

Investment Thesis

The founders state that the investment thesis revolves around companies that have already established robust domestic positions but are in need of both growth capital and strategic insights to expand throughout Southeast Asia. With established offices and networks in critical hubs, the platform aims to serve as a bridge for capital, market access, and operational expertise in the region.
