Gameskraft’s Strategic Pause on Pocket52 Poker Platform
Gameskraft has declared a strategic pause for its poker platform, Pocket52, as part of a comprehensive plan to reevaluate and redefine its strategy within the poker category in India. The objective is to provide a more focused and unique experience for players, in line with its long-term vision for the poker segment.
The company stated, “The ‘Add Cash’ feature on Pocket52 will be discontinued on May 22, 2025, and gameplay will finish on May 30, 2025. The platform will remain accessible until July 2025 for withdrawals, ensuring that all existing customer funds are secure and available through standard processes.”
Gameskraft has confirmed that this pause will not affect its workforce, and all communications regarding withdrawals and future updates will be directed to players. Although the company did not specifically mention the 28% GST imposed by the government on gaming startups as a factor, it must be acknowledged that this could influence their strategic decisions. Many startups have experienced layoffs and closures following the tax implementation.
Despite this operational pause, Gameskraft remains committed to developing innovative digital experiences for players across its gaming portfolio. Reports indicate that Gameskraft’s operational revenue rose to Rs 3,475 crore in FY24 from Rs 2,673 crore in FY23. However, during this period, its profit decreased by 10.8% to Rs 947 crore. In addition to Pocket52, Gameskraft also manages Rummy Culture, Playship, RummyPrime, Ludo Culture, and Rummy Time.
