Groww: Strong Stock Market Debut in India
Groww, a digital investment platform, achieved a stronger-than-anticipated introduction on the Indian stock exchanges, launching at Rs 114 per share on the BSE, which marks a 14% increase from its issue price, despite a modest grey market premium (GMP) of approximately 3%. On the NSE, the stock commenced trading at Rs 112.
Details of Groww’s IPO
The IPO for Groww was available for subscription from November 4 to November 7, presenting a price range of Rs 95 to 100 per share, along with a minimum investment requirement of Rs 14,250. The total Rs 6,632 crore IPO included a fresh issue valued at Rs 1,060 crore and an offer for sale (OFS) of Rs 5,572 crore. As per exchange data, Groww’s IPO saw an oversubscription rate of 17.6 times, with the retail portion being subscribed 9.43 times, qualified institutional buyers (excluding anchors) at 22.02 times, and non-institutional investors (NIIs) at 14.2 times.
Anchor Investment and Market Position
During the IPO process, Groww secured Rs 2,984.5 crore from anchor investors, attracting significant interest from prominent names like HDFC Mutual Fund, Kotak Mutual Fund, SBI Mutual Fund, Nippon India, Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, and Goldman Sachs. Despite a downturn in India’s retail broking sector, Groww was the only major entity to document growth in October 2025. According to NSE data, it added 1.38 lakh active demat accounts, boosting its total to 1.2 crore, which represents a market share of 26.6%.
Current Trading Status
Currently, Groww’s shares are trading at Rs 124 (as of 10:20 AM), resulting in a total market capitalization of Rs 24,169.1 crore (approximately $2.7 billion). The Bengaluru-based company’s operating revenue surged nearly 50% year-on-year to reach Rs 3,902 crore in FY25, while its profit climbed to Rs 1,824 crore for the same period. However, for Q1 FY26, Groww reported a revenue decrease of around 10% year-on-year, amounting to Rs 904.4 crore, with the company noting a profit of Rs 378.36 crore.
