Ather already functions as an associate company of Hero MotoCorp, focusing on the electric two-wheeler and charging infrastructure sectors. The company reported an impressive turnover of Rs 3,671.76 crore for the fiscal year 2026, a significant increase from Rs 2,255 crore in fiscal year 2025 and Rs 1,753.8 crore in fiscal year 2024. Hero MotoCorp announced that this acquisition does not necessitate any governmental or regulatory approvals.

Ather Energy has recently secured Rs 1,200 crore through a preferential issue, with Hero MotoCorp contributing nearly Rs 960 crore while the India-Japan Fund (IJF) invested Rs 200 crore. Additionally, co-founders Tarun Mehta and Swapnil Jain each injected Rs 20 crore into the venture. Hero MotoCorp has been consistently increasing its investment in Ather, with this latest move representing yet another significant investment.

Ather Energy’s Market Position

As per data from Vahan, Ather Energy maintained its third place in the market with 28,819 registrations, accounting for a 14.89% market share in July. However, the company noted an 8.3% month-on-month decline, having registered 2,616 fewer vehicles compared to June. Following this latest acquisition, Ather’s shares experienced an 8% increase, closing at Rs 1,616.3, which raised its market capitalization to Rs 63,762 crore, approximately $6.7 billion.
