ixigo Financial Results for Q2 FY27: A Closer Look

ixigo, a prominent online travel aggregator, has announced strong financial results for the second quarter of FY27, showcasing a 13% rise in operating revenue. The company has recorded a net profit of Rs 63.42 crore, largely attributed to the divestment from its stake in FreshBus and an additional Rs 22 crore in other income.

The financial outcomes reveal that the Gurugram-based firm’s operating revenue surged to Rs 321 crore in Q2 FY27, up from Rs 284 crore in the same period last year, according to unaudited financial reports available from the National Stock Exchange.

Major Revenue Streams for ixigo

Train bookings emerged as the primary source of revenue, with a notable increase of 16.4% year-on-year, climbing to Rs 149.1 crore in Q2 FY27 from Rs 128.1 crore in the corresponding prior quarter. Meanwhile, the bus segment also saw significant growth, with revenue rising by 23.8% to Rs 81 crore from Rs 65.4 crore.

Conversely, revenue from flight bookings showed a decline of 7.5%, decreasing from Rs 89.4 crore to Rs 82.7 crore in Q2 FY27. The hotel segment, however, demonstrated the most robust performance, with revenues skyrocketing to Rs 8.1 crore from just Rs 1.3 crore during Q2 FY26.

Other Financial Highlights

In addition to the operational revenue, ixigo’s report noted an impressive Rs 22 crore generated from other income, elevating the total income to Rs 343 crore for Q2 FY27. Employee benefit expenses decreased by 13.2% to Rs 64.38 crore, compared to Rs 74.18 crore previously, while total expenses increased by 6% year-on-year to Rs 309.5 crore.

Interestingly, there was a 10% decline in ixigo’s revenue on a quarterly basis, down from Rs 357 crore in the previous quarter (Q1 FY27).

Profitability Insights

On the profitability front, ixigo marked a net profit of Rs 63.42 crore in Q2 FY27, reversing a loss of Rs 3.46 crore reported a year prior. This profit comprised a substantial gain of Rs 36.6 crore from the FreshBus share sale and enhanced fair value on its remaining stake. However, profit before tax and exceptional items dropped by 30% quarter-on-quarter, landing at Rs 33.5 crore, down from Rs 48 crore in Q1 FY27.

Moreover, ixigo experienced a 17% year-on-year decrease in adjusted EBITDA, totalling Rs 23.58 crore, marking the lowest level recorded in five quarters.

Performance Overview for H1 FY27

For the first half of FY27, ixigo’s operating revenue reflected a 13% year-on-year increase, rising to Rs 678 crore from Rs 600 crore in H1 FY26, accompanied by a profit of Rs 97.6 crore.

ixigo’s shares concluded the trading day 4.6% higher, priced at Rs 144.46 on Friday, bringing the market capitalisation of the online travel aggregator to Rs 6,102 crore.
