Jio Platforms Initiates IPO for Digital Growth

Jio Platforms, the digital services division of Reliance Industries, has launched its initial public offering (IPO) valued at Rs 30,213 crore. This offering is open for subscription starting Wednesday and will conclude on October 23. The company has set the share price range between Rs 1,065 and Rs 1,119. The IPO consists of a fresh issue of 27 crore equity shares, without any offer-for-sale component.

The issue also designates shares worth up to Rs 500 crore for eligible employees and Rs 2,500 crore for qualified shareholders of Reliance Industries. Prior to the public offering, Jio Platforms secured Rs 8,110 crore from 212 anchor investors on October 19. The anchor book generated bids amounting to nearly Rs 2.5 lakh crore, exceeding 30 times the capital allocated to the participating investors.

Notable global investors, such as BlackRock, Capital Group, Fidelity Investments, and T. Rowe Price took part in the anchor investments, along with various domestic mutual funds and insurance firms.

Utilisation of IPO Proceeds

Jio Platforms intends to utilise Rs 27,500 crore from the proceeds of the IPO to settle a portion of the debts of its subsidiary, Reliance Jio Infocomm. The remaining funds will be dedicated to general corporate activities.

Overview of Jio Platforms

Jio Platforms encapsulates Reliance Industries’ telecom and digital ventures, including Reliance Jio Infocomm, which delivers mobile connectivity, fixed broadband, and various digital services. The company has been actively extending its footprint in 5G technology, digital applications, and artificial intelligence.

Subscriber Base

As of June 2026, Reliance Jio Infocomm boasted 533.3 million subscribers, establishing itself as one of the leading telecom operators in the nation.

Past Investments

In 2020, global technology giants Meta and Google invested in Jio Platforms, along with several private equity and institutional investors. This IPO represents one of India’s most substantial public offerings and signifies a significant advancement in the listing of Reliance Industries’ digital segment. The shares are expected to be listed on the BSE and NSE on October 28.
