Info Edge Leadership Transition: Sanjeev Bikhchandani Named CEO
Info Edge has announced that founder Sanjeev Bikhchandani will assume the role of Managing Director and Group CEO starting December 3, 2026. This transition comes as Hitesh Oberoi steps away from his full-time operational responsibilities after nearly 27 years at the company.
Board Approval for Bikhchandani’s New Role
In a regulatory notice released on Tuesday, the parent company of Naukri.com confirmed that the board has given the green light to Bikhchandani’s appointment as Executive Vice Chairman, Managing Director and Group CEO, pending shareholder approval. His tenure will be aligned with his current position, extending until April 26, 2031.
Oberoi’s Departure and Future Plans
Oberoi has served as MD and CEO for more than 16 years and will conclude his roles at the close of business on December 2. He plans to remain on the board as a non-executive, non-independent director, subject to shareholder ratification.
In his resignation letter, Oberoi expressed a desire to dedicate more time to higher education, entrepreneurship, investing, philanthropy, and family commitments. He stated that this decision was made after careful consideration, confident in the company’s ability to transition effectively into its next phase.
Growth and Development under Oberoi’s Leadership
Throughout his tenure, Info Edge has significantly bolstered its core business areas, including Naukri.com, 99acres, Jeevansathi, Shiksha, and Jobhai. Oberoi mentioned that Naukri has developed an AI-driven data strategy, while 99acres has become a cash-generating entity. Moreover, Jeevansathi and Aisle have achieved profitability, and Jobhai has established a strong monetisation strategy.
During Oberoi’s 16 years as CEO, Info Edge’s market capitalisation surged from approximately Rs 2,500 crore to nearly Rs 80,000 crore, as noted in the company’s press release.
Bikhchandani’s Impact on Info Edge
Bikhchandani, the founder of Info Edge, has been instrumental in developing the company’s business model and investment portfolio. The organisation has supported numerous startups, several of which have successfully transitioned into publicly listed companies. Oberoi confirmed that he would remain available to assist Info Edge and contribute through his role on the board.
