Lenskart Shares Sold by SoftBank

Lenskart has witnessed significant activity as SoftBank has sold 4.5 crore shares of the eyewear retailer for approximately Rs 2,888 crore (over $300 million) through a block deal. This marks SoftBank’s second major divestiture in the company since June.

Details of the Transaction

According to the stock exchange information, these shares were sold at Rs 641.75 each, bringing the total transaction value to Rs 2,888 crore. As of July, SoftBank owned 17.14 crore Lenskart shares, which represented a 9.69% stake. Following this recent sale, its holding has now decreased to around 12.64 crore shares, or about 7.15%.

Recent Activity in Lenskart Holdings

This latest sale comes just under three months after SoftBank previously sold Lenskart shares worth approximately Rs 2,873 crore in June, which involved a sale of around 5.65 crore shares at a price of Rs 508.55 each.

Additional Stake Reductions by Investors

SoftBank is not the sole initial investor reducing its stake in Lenskart recently. The Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) divested shares valued at around Rs 1,960 crore in June, and Temasek sold shares worth approximately Rs 1,940 crore in July.

Overall Impact of Institutional Sales

Altogether, these four significant transactions, including SoftBank’s two sales, total around Rs 9,660 crore (over $1 billion) worth of Lenskart shares sold by major institutional investors since June. This trend has arisen even as Lenskart continues to attract substantial investor interest in the publicly listed eyewear sector.

Lenskart’s Market Position

The company made its debut in the stock market in November 2025 and has seen several notable institutional transactions since then. In the latest block deal, a variety of institutional investors acquired shares, including Societe Generale, Motilal Oswal Mutual Fund, SBI Mutual Fund, Sundaram Mutual Fund, and several global funds.

Latest Financial Performance

In its latest quarterly results for Q1 FY27, Lenskart reported a 43% year-on-year revenue growth, reaching Rs 2,714 crore with a profit of Rs 228 crore. The company concluded its trading session at Rs 658.75, resulting in a total market capitalisation of Rs 1,14,225 crore.
