LightFury Games Raises $11 Million for eCricket Development
LightFury Games, a studio specialising in AAA-focused game technology, has successfully raised $11 million (approximately Rs 103 crore) in a pre-Series A funding round. This round was led by Blume Ventures, V3 Ventures, MIXI, and Times Internet, with contributions from notable Indian cricketers including MS Dhoni, Jasprit Bumrah, Shreyas Iyer, Ravindra Jadeja, Tilak Varma, Sai Sudharsan, and Hardik Pandya.
Previous Funding and Future Development
The Bengaluru-based startup had earlier secured $8.5 million in a seed round led by Blume Ventures in April 2024. The latest funds will be allocated towards finishing the development of its flagship game, eCricket, along with establishing its live operations infrastructure, which comprises content pipelines for post-launch updates.

Key Features of eCricket
The game will boast advanced tactical batting and bowling systems, realistic physics-driven gameplay, AI-driven commentary, and a presentation akin to broadcast-style coverage. eCricket is scheduled for launch on mobile platforms in 2026.
Player Roster and Monetisation
LightFury Games has obtained global player roster rights for more than 600 professional cricketers, featuring names such as Chris Gayle, Joe Root, Ben Stokes, Kane Williamson, Pat Cummins, Jos Buttler, Travis Head, and Andre Russell. The game will operate on a free-to-play model, including in-app purchases for player cards, cosmetic upgrades, stadium enhancements, and season passes, without incorporating real-money gaming elements.
