PhysicsWallah Monitoring Growth and Investor Confidence

Silicon Valley-based Lightspeed Venture Partners has divested its holdings in the educational technology firm PhysicsWallah through a block deal valued at Rs 550 crore on the National Stock Exchange on Wednesday. As per exchange details, Lightspeed, operating through Lightspeed Opportunity Fund II, sold its entire stake of 4,66,98,120 shares, which equates to a 1.61% ownership, at a price of Rs 117.72 per share in this block deal, amounting to Rs 549.73 crore. The fund, which maintained this stake until the end of June 2026, completed the full exit through this transaction.

Investor Activity in PhysicsWallah

A blend of domestic and international institutional investors participated in the acquisition of these shares, with ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund being the primary buyer, securing 2.2 crore shares valued at Rs 258.98 crore. Other notable participants in the block deal included Citigroup Global Markets Mauritius, Viridian Asia Opportunities Master Fund, various entities from Goldman Sachs, GS India Equity, JSS Investmentfonds II, Ghisallo Master Fund, Mediolanum India Opportunities, Morgan Stanley Asia Singapore, New York State Teachers Retirement System, OP-India Fund, Societe Generale, and Tata AIA Life Insurance.

PhysicsWallah Financial Performance

In terms of financial growth, PhysicsWallah reported a 24% year-on-year increase in revenue, reaching Rs 1,054 crore in the first quarter of FY27, while its consolidated net loss decreased by 31% to Rs 88 crore from Rs 127 crore in the same quarter the previous year. The company’s EBITDA also turned favourable, posting a profit of Rs 52 crore, contrasting with an EBITDA loss of Rs 21 crore in Q1 FY26.

The transaction was carried out at a discount to PhysicsWallah’s last close of Rs 121.35. After the deal, the stock climbed by as much as 5% during Wednesday’s trading session and concluded at Rs 126.13 on the NSE, accumulating a total market capitalisation of Rs 36,754 crore.
