MeltPlan Raises $10 Million for AI-Driven Construction Planning
In a significant move, MeltPlan, a pre-construction AI platform, has successfully secured $10 million in a seed funding round led by Bessemer Venture Partners, with additional backing from noa. This funding round elevates the company’s total funding to $14 million. The generated funds will be allocated to the development of a new “planning engine” tailored for the construction industry, along with accelerating product evolution across code, cost, schedule, and value decision systems, as outlined in a recent press release.
The Vision Behind MeltPlan
Founded in 2025 by Kanav Hasija and Tanmaya Kala, MeltPlan is focused on creating an AI system specifically designed for the construction sector. This system aims to grasp essential elements such as building codes, materials, sequencing, procurement, and construction methodologies. Notably, the AI has achieved scores of 95% or higher on building inspector exams. The company is also on a mission to broaden its expertise across all trades involved in construction planning.
Bridging the Gap in Construction Technology
While design software enhances usability and aesthetics, and construction software zeroes in on execution and control, MeltPlan seeks to introduce the vital element missing from current tools. This software is intended to optimise decisions and manage trade-offs early in the process, prior to locking scope, initiating procurement, and facing inevitable change orders.
The Integrated Planning Engine
MeltPlan’s Planning Engine will encompass four interconnected systems: a code system that offers context-aware compliance pathways for architects, engineers, and inspectors; a cost system; a scheduling system; and a value system that provides value-impact analyses and optimisation suggestions for owners and developers.
Aiming to Streamline the Construction Process
MeltPlan aspires to make construction “boring” by refining the planning process. This involves unveiling constraints and trade-offs early, ensuring stakeholders are on the same page before finalising plans, and minimising late-stage redlines, rework, and change orders. The company is currently collaborating with leading enterprise contractors, including DPR Construction in California and Innovo Group in the UAE, to enhance their planning and pre-construction efforts.
