MS Dhoni Invests in SolarSquare: Expanding Residential Rooftop Solar Solutions
Residential rooftop solar solutions are gaining momentum, and SolarSquare is at the forefront of this movement. Recently, it was revealed that MS Dhoni, the former Indian cricket captain, has made an investment in SolarSquare through his family office, Midas Deals. This investment is part of a significant $53 million Series C funding round. In addition to his investment, Dhoni will take on the role of brand ambassador for the company.
SolarSquare aims to utilise this new capital to broaden its reach and enhance the adoption of residential rooftop solar systems throughout India. Established by Shreya Mishra and Nikhil Nahar, SolarSquare offers comprehensive rooftop solar solutions, spanning consultation, installation, financing, monitoring, and after-sales support. The venture has successfully implemented rooftop solar systems in over 50,000 residences across 29 cities.
Following the Series C funding, SolarSquare has plans to extend its operations into 30 to 40 additional cities. The company also seeks to enhance its technological platform, increase financing options, and invest significantly in customer service infrastructure. Earlier this month, the startup successfully raised $53 million in its Series C round, primarily driven by Lightspeed, alongside contributions from Lowercarbon Capital, NGP Capital, Elevation Capital, and existing investors.
