GreenLine Mobility Solutions Secures $275 Million Investment for Clean-Energy Trucks

GreenLine Mobility Solutions, part of the Essar Group, primarily focused on LNG and electric trucks, has recently garnered a substantial equity investment of $275 million. This investment will facilitate the deployment of more than 10,000 clean-energy trucks and establish 100 LNG refuelling stations along with EV charging points, all aimed at accelerating the decarbonisation of heavy trucking throughout India.

The funding round includes a noteworthy $20 million contribution from Nikhil Kamath, co-founder of Zerodha, as highlighted in a press release from GreenLine Mobility.

Nikhil Kamath expressed that the logistics sector is at a critical juncture. He stated that it must evolve to be faster, cleaner, and smarter. Supporting GreenLine represents a commitment to a future where sustainability and efficiency coexist. He believes that numerous companies need to embrace this overhaul, adopt green technologies, and fundamentally reassess how goods are moved on a large scale. He emphasised that this transition is already underway, with or without industry participation.

GreenLine’s Commitment to Decarbonisation

GreenLine Mobility Solutions operates LNG-powered trucks for long-haul transportation and electric vehicles (EVs) for short-haul logistics. Additionally, its subsidiary, Ultra Gas and Energy, is working to establish a comprehensive network of LNG refuelling stations to bolster its green logistics initiatives.

The primary goal of GreenLine is to decarbonise India’s transport sector, which accounts for nearly 15% of the nation’s overall carbon emissions. This initiative aims to cut down 1 million tonnes of carbon emissions each year.

Environmentally Friendly Trucking Solutions

According to GreenLine Mobility Solutions, its LNG-powered trucks can diminish carbon dioxide emissions by up to 30%, positioning them as a reliable partner for businesses striving to meet sustainability benchmarks. The company asserts that it operates a fleet of over 650 LNG trucks, catering to diverse sectors, including FMCG, e-commerce, metals and mining, cement, oil and gas, and chemicals.
