Mahadev App Case: Enforcement Directorate Conducts Searches
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has recently undertaken a series of searches across various states in connection with the Mahadev online betting app investigation, according to reports from news agency PTI. These actions included searches at the residence of Nishant Pitti, the founder and chairman of EaseMyTrip.
Officials, speaking on the condition of anonymity, revealed that the searches took place in multiple cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad, Indore, Jaipur, Chennai, and Sambalpur. The ED’s investigation is focused on alleged money laundering associated with the Mahadev app, which has reportedly been utilized for unlawful betting activities.
The Mahadev app is believed to have facilitated the creation of user accounts, the enrolment of new users, and the management of funds through fictitious bank accounts. The ED had previously asserted that the app’s promoters, Sourabh Chandrakar and Ravi Uppal, hail from Chhattisgarh.
Additionally, the agency has indicated that several high-ranking politicians and government officials from Chhattisgarh might be implicated in the operations and financial transactions linked to the app. This is not the first instance of the ED executing raids in this ongoing investigation, as prior searches have also been conducted at various locations.
