Ola Electric Mobility Capital Raise Plans

Ola Electric Mobility is actively seeking to secure new funding, just three months after raising Rs 780 crore via a qualified institutional placement, as indicated by a stock exchange filing. This latest round of fundraising comes at a time when the electric two-wheeler manufacturer is under considerable pressure due to declining market share, growing customer complaints, and a decreasing share price along with market capitalisation.

Ola’s Upcoming Board Meeting

The company has arranged a board meeting for September 5, 2026, in order to deliberate and approve a proposal focused on raising capital through the issuance of equity shares or other qualifying securities. As per the regulatory filing, the planned fundraising could occur through various avenues, such as private placements, QIP, preferential issues, or any other permissible method that will be subject to both regulatory and shareholder approvals. Notably, Ola Electric has yet to reveal the scale of the intended fundraising.

Recent Financial Developments

This announcement follows closely after the company secured Rs 780 crore through a QIP in June. Ola issued approximately 21.76 crore shares at Rs 35.86 each to qualified institutional investors. This new capital initiative arrives during a challenging time for Ola Electric, which is striving to enhance its financial standing while also scaling its vertically integrated electric vehicle and battery manufacturing operations.

Diving into Financial Performance

Despite its efforts, the company’s scale has diminished, although losses have shown improvement over the previous quarter. In the first quarter of FY27, Ola Electric’s consolidated revenue from operations dropped by 45% year-on-year, amounting to Rs 455 crore. Simultaneously, the net loss decreased to Rs 336 crore from Rs 428 crore recorded in the same quarter last year. In July, the company reported vehicle registrations at 13,170, reflecting a market share of 6.8%.

Ola Electric is also broadening its capabilities in battery-cell manufacturing and recently obtained a Rs 95.81 crore incentive under the government’s PLI-Auto scheme for FY27.
