OORJAA: Technology-led Logistics Platform Raises Rs 9.7 Crore in Series A Funding
OORJAA, a logistics platform driven by technology, has secured Rs 9.7 crore (approximately $1 million) in a Series A funding round led by Equentis Angel Fund, along with support from Inflection Point Ventures (IPV). This marks the initial close of a more extensive funding round, with discussions ongoing with several venture capital firms.
The newly acquired funds will be directed towards technology advancement and product development, expanding Datashastra, their unique AI/SaaS logistics solution, and enhancing their control-tower and automation capabilities. This information was disclosed by OORJAA in a recent press statement.
The Mumbai-based startup had previously obtained $1.5 million in a pre-Series A investment round led by Micello Fund, with contributions from Capital-A, Java Capital, Anicut Capital, and Lead Angels in September 2023. Furthermore, in October 2023, it raised Rs 5.35 crore in a pre-Series A 2 funding round from Inflection Point Ventures (IPV), Vinners Platform, Soonicorn Ventures, and HEM Angels.
The Vision Behind OORJAA
Founded in 2019 by Sandeep Patil, Prashant Mohite, Yogesh Parab, and Umesh Singh, OORJAA is revolutionising logistics by operating mid-mile and last-mile networks across over 200 cities in India. The company’s proprietary AI stack, Datashastra, provides features such as route optimisation, reconciliation, and round-the-clock control-tower visibility.
This platform is also available as a standalone SaaS solution internationally. OORJAA distinguishes itself with an outcome-linked cost-per-unit model, allowing clients to pay for units transported instead of assets utilised.
Market Dynamics and Growth Potential
Market analysis indicates that the global logistics market is valued at $10 trillion, while the logistics SaaS sector, where Datashastra is positioned, is experiencing growth at a high single-digit to double-digit CAGR. OORJAA reports managing over 3 million products and 50,000 last-mile orders each day across more than 200 cities, achieving a 95% SLA compliance rate for its enterprise clients, which include Zepto, Blinkit, Amazon, and Swiggy.
The company is also introducing electric vehicles within congested urban areas to further reduce costs and lower emissions.
The Future of Technology-led Logistics in India
Technology-driven logistics platforms are playing an increasingly vital role in India’s startup landscape, leveraging AI, SaaS, automation, real-time tracking, data analytics, and digital marketplaces to tackle inefficiencies in the nation’s fragmented freight and supply chain sectors. In a related development, Gurugram-based TrucksUp has raised $8.2 million to enhance its technology infrastructure and optimise trucking operations. Meanwhile, FreightFox secured Rs 5 crore to elevate its transportation management and control-tower offerings, and the tech-focused EV fleet and fulfilment startup TOCAL has raised Rs 9 crore to expand into additional cities and develop fulfilment frameworks.
