Owners ID: Recovery-Tech Startup Secures $260K in Funding
Recovery-tech startup Owners ID has successfully secured $260K during a pre-seed funding round, which was spearheaded by Crucifer Investments. The newly acquired funds are set to be directed towards various initiatives, including product development, technology upgrades, scaling manufacturing, enhancing the mobile application, implementing AI-driven recovery systems, and global brand expansion, as stated in a recent press announcement.
Founded in November of the previous year by Jesintha Louis, Owners ID is revolutionising the recovery-tech industry by developing a digital identity layer for physical possessions, utilising privacy-first QR technology. The startup’s objective is to ensure that lost items are swiftly returned to their rightful owners.
Based in Bengaluru, the startup tackles the issue of lost or misplaced items by providing smart QR-based recovery solutions. These products enable finders to connect with the owners seamlessly, without the need to share personal contact information. The platform is designed to operate universally, taking advantage of widely available technologies such as smartphone cameras and QR scanning, ensuring that there is no need for batteries, charging, costly hardware, or app downloads for those who find lost items.
Versatile Products for Everyday Use
Owners ID manufactures products applicable to a variety of scenarios, including travel accessories, keys and wallets, passports and essential documents, electronic devices, vehicles and related stickers, pet tags, health ID solutions, as well as personal belongings and lifestyle items.
Statistics on Lost Items in India and Beyond
Industry research indicates that India experiences approximately 82 million incidents related to lost items each year, while the global figure surpasses 319 million cases annually. Positioned at the nexus of smart recovery, digital identity, and consumer safety technology, Owners ID is crafting what it refers to as a “digital identity layer” for physical items, spanning across pets, people, vehicles, luggage, electronics, and personal valuables.
