Go Digit General Insurance Stake Sale by Peak XV Partners

Go Digit General Insurance has recently seen a significant stake sale by Peak XV Partners, who offloaded shares worth approximately Rs 139 crore through a block deal on the National Stock Exchange (NSE). This marks the second instance of a stake sale by Peak XV in under two months.

Data from the NSE block deal indicates that Peak XV Partners, through its affiliate Peak XV Partners Growth Investments III, sold 57.21 lakh shares of Go Digit at a price of Rs 243 per share, bringing the total transaction value to around Rs 139 crore. The entire tranche was acquired by ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund at the same price.

Previous Stake Sale Details

In June, Peak XV had already sold 33.33 lakh shares of Go Digit, accumulating Rs 100 crore from that transaction. Participating investors included Aditya Birla Sun Life Mutual Fund and JPMorgan (Taiwan) Eastern Technology Fund. With the recent sale, Peak XV has divested a total of 90.54 lakh shares of Go Digit, valued at around Rs 239 crore across the two block deals.

About Go Digit General Insurance

Established in 2017, Go Digit General Insurance provides a diverse range of products in motor, health, travel, property, and other insurance sectors. Motor insurance stands as its largest business segment, with health and fire insurance following closely. Go Digit enjoys support from notable investors such as Faering Capital, Wellington Management, and TVS Capital Funds.

Financial Performance

On the financial side, Go Digit reported a decline in profit after tax by 37.5%, dropping to Rs 86.4 crore in Q1 FY27 from Rs 138.3 crore in the corresponding period last year. Additionally, the gross premium written decreased by 8.4% to Rs 2,730.9 crore, compared to Rs 2,981.8 crore in Q1 FY26.

Market Activity

This latest stake sale occurs amid challenges for Go Digit’s stock performance. The shares hit an all-time low of Rs 245 on the BSE on July 28 and have fallen nearly 21% in the past month. As of 10:56 AM, Go Digit’s shares were trading at Rs 252, leading to a market capitalisation of approximately Rs 23,430 crore.
