Peak XV Partners Sells Stake in Billionbrains Garage Ventures

Peak XV Partners has offloaded a 1.47% stake in Billionbrains Garage Ventures, the parent organisation of the stockbroking platform Groww, through a significant bulk transaction on Wednesday. According to available bulk deal information, Peak XV Partners Investments VI-1 disposed of 9.17 crore shares at an average price of Rs 191.49 each. The overall transaction was valued at approximately Rs 1,756 crore.

Peak XV’s Holdings in Groww

As of June 2026, Peak XV Partners Investments VI-1 retained a 15.68% stake in Groww, establishing it as one of the largest institutional shareholders in the company. The recent sale constitutes nearly 10% of its total holding in the firm based on the June shareholding data.

Market Activity Around Groww

This transaction follows the actions of two early investors in Groww, Y Combinator and Ribbit Capital, who reduced their stakes in the company through large-scale open-market transactions. In August, Y Combinator, through its subsidiary YC Holdings II, sold around 7.47 crore shares, representing a 1.2% stake, valued at approximately Rs 1,435 crore. Subsequently in that month, Ribbit Capital divested 11.31 crore shares for Rs 2,217 crore.

Combined, Y Combinator and Ribbit Capital sold shares worth over Rs 3,650 crore in August alone. With the latest transaction from Peak XV, all three investors have now offloaded Groww shares exceeding Rs 5,400 crore since the beginning of August.

Previous Transactions by Peak XV

Earlier this year, Peak XV also reduced its shareholding in Groww. In May, the investment firm sold 6.2 crore shares for approximately Rs 1,116 crore.

Financial Performance of Groww

On the financial side, Groww reported operating revenue of Rs 1,501 crore during Q1 FY27, marking a remarkable 66% increase year-on-year. Additionally, the net profit nearly doubled to Rs 735 crore during the same period.

In the aftermath of this transaction, Groww’s shares saw a nearly 4% decline on Wednesday, closing at Rs 189.76. This fluctuation brought the company’s market capitalisation to around Rs 1.19 lakh crore ($12.5 billion).
