Primebook: Innovating Android Laptops for Education
Primebook, an Android laptop brand, has successfully secured an additional $250K through a combination of primary and secondary shares from Ekamya Capital. This follows a significant $2 million pre-Series A funding round in April this year, which valued the company at $15 million. According to a press release, these new funds will be allocated towards advancing its proprietary operating system, PrimeOS, while also bolstering its AI and Cloud PC infrastructure. The aim is to enhance brand trust and improve consumer accessibility throughout India.
About Primebook and PrimeOS
Co-founded in 2018 by Aman Verma and Chitranshu Mahant, Primebook aims to blend hardware innovation with software intelligence. This approach yields smart, affordable laptops designed specifically for students, powered by its Android-based operating system, PrimeOS. The Delhi-based company highlights that PrimeOS is tailored particularly for learners enrolled in hybrid online education programs, simplifying the learning experience. The laptop supports Android applications, enables effortless switching between apps, and provides a familiar interface for users accustomed to Android devices.
Features of PrimeOS
PrimeOS ensures a desktop-like experience, featuring multi-window multitasking and native support for Android apps. It includes key mapping functionality that translates touch gestures into keyboard actions, catering to touch-intensive applications. Additionally, the system provides Cloud PC capability and incorporates an AI assistant known as Companion Mode, along with AI-enhanced global search features.
The Ecosystem of Primebook
According to Primebook, its comprehensive ecosystem—comprising cloud integration, AI-driven features, and productivity tools—creates new opportunities for how today’s youth learn, create, and work. By merging research and development with scalable innovations and cost-effectiveness, Primebook aims to broaden the outlook on modern computing.
