Razorpay Appoints Prabhu Rambadran as Senior VP of Engineering
Razorpay has made a significant move by appointing Prabhu Rambadran as the Senior Vice President of Engineering. Prabhu previously served as the head of engineering at Google. At Razorpay, he is set to lead the engineering team focused on various aspects, including risk and intelligence, business banking, payments, customer engagement, and the core infrastructure.
Additionally, he will manage Razorpay’s ambitious initiatives to enhance product innovation and fortify its technological foundation. Co-founder and Managing Director Shashank Kumar stated that Prabhu’s expertise will further solidify the company’s tech framework as they develop AI-first platforms for the upcoming decade in digital payments and banking.
Extensive Experience in the Tech Industry
With over 18 years of industry experience, Prabhu has held several leadership roles across diverse organisations. His background includes working with notable software companies such as Nutanix and Microsoft in both the US and India.

Razorpay’s Impressive Growth Performance
In the fiscal year 2025, Razorpay reported a robust performance, achieving a 65% year-on-year increase in consolidated revenue, which amounted to Rs 3,783 crore, up from Rs 2,296 crore in the previous fiscal year 2024. The company has successfully raised more than $800 million from various investors, including Lightspeed, Tiger Global, Peak XV Partners, and GIC. In April 2025, Razorpay transitioned into a public entity following its reverse flip to India. Recently, the company also invested $30 million to acquire POP, a rewards-first UPI payments application.
