Rocket: AI App-Building Platform Raises $15 Million in Seed Funding
Rocket, an AI-driven platform designed for building applications, has successfully secured $15 million in seed funding, primarily led by Salesforce Ventures and Accel, with additional investment from Together Fund. Startup Superb first reported on this funding round earlier this month. According to various sources compiled by a startup data intelligence platform, the company had previously raised over $9.5 million in earlier funding, backed by investors like Accel, India Quotient, Together Fund, and Dholakia Ventures.
Funding Allocation for Growth
The funds will be directed towards enhancing research and development, speeding up product development, and expanding Rocket’s presence internationally, including the establishment of a new headquarters in Palo Alto, California.
The Vision Behind Rocket
Founded by Vishal Virani, Rahul Shingala, and Deepak Dhanak, Rocket was created with the aim of simplifying application development in the age of AI. Unlike alternatives that focus solely on code snippets or mockups, Rocket allows users to generate fully functional, multi-page applications in minutes. This includes everything from dashboards and internal tools to consumer-facing applications.
User Growth and Early Success
In just four months since its launch, Rocket has reportedly attracted over 400,000 users from 180 countries, has developed more than 500,000 production-ready ideas, and is experiencing significant interest from startups, agencies, and Fortune 100 companies.
Operating Model and Competitive Edge
Rocket functions as a Software as a Service (SaaS) platform, generating revenue through subscriptions and enterprise contracts. By offering an AI-native, production-ready architecture that allows for quick deployment, the company is positioning itself in competition with other platforms like Retool, Bubble, and Glide, while establishing a unique space with its AI-first strategy.
Financial Performance
Although the company has not yet submitted its FY25 financials, Rocket reported Rs 3.5 crore in revenue for FY24, with losses increasing by 46% to Rs 11 crore, as per standalone financial statements filed with the RoC.
