Scimplify Secures $25 Million in Funding for Advanced Materials Expansion
Scimplify, an advanced materials manufacturer based in Bengaluru, has successfully raised $25 million in a strategic funding round led by Hitachi Ventures. Participating in this funding round were Accel India, Bertelsmann India Investments, Omnivore, and 3one4 Capital. New investors Henkel and Teknor Apex joined the round as well. Both companies are already customers of Scimplify, with Teknor Apex set to act as a manufacturing partner to aid in the company’s expansion into the US market.
This latest funding brings Scimplify’s total raised equity capital to $80 million. The company plans to utilise these funds to enhance its research, processing, and manufacturing capabilities in the United States, with a key focus on materials required in sectors like semiconductors, defence, energy, and AI infrastructure.
Startup Superb had reported on Scimplify’s recent funding round and valuation earlier in July. Founded in 2023 by Sachin Santhosh, Salil Srivastava, Dheeraj Dhingra, and Hersh Manek, Scimplify works on manufacturing processes that convert raw materials, industrial waste, and laboratory innovations into high-purity materials for a variety of commercial applications.
Innovative Manufacturing and AI Integration
The company harnesses the expertise of in-house scientists and laboratories, combining it with its AI-enabled platform, Scinode, which assists in the development of materials and scaling up their production. Scinode maps over 500 manufacturing facilities and aids in identifying appropriate production routes, equipment, and manufacturing partners.
According to Scimplify, the company has successfully catered to customers across more than 40 countries. Notably, over 40% of its portfolio is dedicated to advanced materials for semiconductors, batteries, and critical minerals.
Highlighted Projects and Achievements
The startup has cited several projects in areas such as semiconductor chemicals, battery materials, and tungsten recovery as examples of its capabilities. In one instance, it created a purification process for a high-purity chemical used in semiconductor manufacturing, delivering a sample that passed the customer’s process validation within two months. In another capacity, it developed a method for recovering tungsten from industrial scrap and spent catalysts for a US-based metals manufacturer.
Looking ahead, the company intends to expand its research and process development teams based in the US, invest in domestic manufacturing and processing capabilities, and establish additional American manufacturing partnerships. Furthermore, it aims to secure feedstock for essential metals and rare earth materials.
This funding round arrives as Scimplify seeks to enhance its footprint in the US and cultivate local production capabilities for advanced materials that are predominantly processed overseas.
