Appointment of New Revenue Secretary
Senior bureaucrat Tuhin Kanta Pandey has been designated as the new Revenue Secretary in a significant organizational restructuring that impacted two vital departments within the Finance Ministry on Wednesday.
Pandey, who currently serves as the Finance Secretary, is also the Secretary of the Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM). The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has sanctioned his appointment as the Revenue Secretary, succeeding Arunish Chawla, according to a personnel ministry directive.
Details of the Reassignment
- Chawla has been appointed as the new Secretary of DIPAM, taking over Pandey’s former role.
- He will concurrently manage the Secretary position in the Department of Public Enterprises, Ministry of Finance, and the Secretary role in the Ministry of Culture until a permanent appointment is made, as noted in the order.
- Chawla, a 1992 batch Indian Administrative Service officer from the Bihar cadre, was previously appointed as the Revenue Secretary on December 25 last year, at which point he was serving as the Secretary of the Department of Pharmaceuticals.
