Skyroot Aerospace Secures Rs 100 Crore Debt Funding for Growth

Skyroot Aerospace has successfully obtained Rs 100 crore (approximately $10.75 million) in a significant debt round from BlackRock. This marks the first debt investment for the spacetech startup based in Hyderabad in 2026. According to a filing with the Registrar of Companies (RoC), the board of Skyroot Aerospace has issued 100 non-convertible debentures (NCDs) at a face value of Rs 1 crore each to facilitate this capital increase.

Purpose of Funding

The funds from this debt issuance are earmarked for various purposes, including associated expenses, working capital needs, operational costs, acquisition of fixed assets, and other general corporate expenditures.

Company Background

Founded in 2018 by former ISRO scientists Pawan Kumar Chandana and Naga Bharath Daka, Skyroot Aerospace is dedicated to developing small and medium-lift launch vehicles targeting the global satellite industry. The firm is currently advancing its Vikram series of rockets, specifically Vikram-I and Vikram-II, designed to deliver on-demand, cost-effective, and versatile satellite launch options.

Milestone Achievements

In a historic achievement, Skyroot Aerospace became the first private Indian enterprise to successfully launch a rocket into space with the Vikram-S mission in 2022. In October 2023, the company further demonstrated its financial momentum by raising Rs 225 crore (around $27 million) in a pre-Series C funding round led by Temasek.

Future Growth Expectations

As indicated by media reports, Skyroot Aerospace is currently in negotiations to secure an additional $150–200 million (approximately Rs 1,800 crore) to underpin its next growth phase. This upcoming funding round is anticipated to value the company at around $1 billion.

Financial Status

By the conclusion of FY25 (March 2025), Skyroot Aerospace was still in the pre-revenue stage. Nevertheless, the company witnessed an increase in losses to Rs 99.70 crore during the year, primarily attributed to ongoing investments in research and development.
