Agriculture Drone Startup Suind Secures Rs 20.5 Crore Funding

Agriculture drone startup Suind has announced plans to secure Rs 20.5 crore (approximately $2.2 million) through a new funding round, led by Transition Venture Capital Fund. Regulatory documents reviewed by Startup Superb reveal that the Bengaluru-based firm’s board has approved the issuance of 5,107 compulsorily convertible preference shares (CCPS) at an issue price of Rs 40,132.20 each to generate this capital.

Funding Details and Valuation

As part of this funding initiative, Transition Venture Capital Fund is set to invest Rs 20 crore, while CIIE Initiatives will contribute Rs 50 lakh. Estimates from Startup Superb indicate that this fresh funding round values Suind at approximately Rs 80 crore (around $8.4 million) on a post-money basis. This investment arrives after a hiatus of about two-and-a-half years. In November 2023, Suind had successfully raised Rs 5 crore in a seed funding round, led by Sunicon Ventures, with backing from Zetta Farms and multiple angel investors.

About Suind and Its Technology

Founded in 2020 by Kunal Shrivastava and Kevin Kleber, Suind is focused on developing autonomous drone solutions for agriculture. Their leading platform, Bumblebee, uses computer vision along with autonomous navigation to assist farmers in monitoring crops, identifying problems, and executing precision spraying with minimal human input.

Future Plans and Stake Distribution

The newly acquired funds will be directed towards broadening the application of Suind’s drone technology beyond the agricultural sector into industrial fields. After the share allotment, Transition Venture Capital Fund will become the largest external stakeholder in Suind, holding a 25% stake. The co-founders, Kunal Shrivastava and Kevin Kleber, will each retain a 25.08% share in the company, while Sunicon Ventures and CIIE Initiatives will possess 9.22% and 0.62%, respectively.

Current Financial Status

Suind has not yet submitted its financial statements for FY26. According to the most recent available documents, the startup is still in the pre-revenue phase, reporting a loss of Rs 1.89 crore in FY25. The agriculture drone sector in India has experienced increased interest in recent years, spurred by the need for precision farming and government encouragement for drone usage. Suind competes with other emerging startups, including Marut Drones, Garuda Aerospace, IoTechWorld Avigation, BharatRohan, and Dhaksha Unmanned Systems.
