Sukino Healthcare Chain Raises $31 Million for Expansion

Sukino, a hospital healthcare chain, has successfully secured $31 million in a Series B funding round, spearheaded by Bessemer Venture Partners with backing from Rainmatter. This new investment is aimed at extending Sukino’s presence into additional geographical areas.

About Sukino and Its Services

Founded in 2016 by Rajinish Menon and Shalini Menon, Sukino is dedicated to providing post-acute and rehabilitative care. It centres on facilitating structured recovery beyond the confines of traditional hospital environments. The organisation primarily focuses on stroke recovery, but also addresses the rehabilitation needs of patients with neurological, orthopaedic, and oncology conditions.

Current Operations and Growth

At present, Sukino manages over 850 beds across 11 facilities located in Bengaluru, Kochi, and Coimbatore. The company operates with group-level profitability and has successfully established five new centres in the past year, reporting an impressive 64% growth year-on-year. In line with its ambitious vision, Sukino aims to launch 22 additional centres within the next two years.

Factors Supporting Sukino’s Expansion

The planned expansion is bolstered by two significant structural changes: the increase in insurance coverage that now accommodates rehabilitation for periods ranging from 60 to 90 days, and the rising acceptance of institutional recovery care among families across India.
