Swiggy Reports Strong Growth in Q1 FY27

Swiggy, a leader in foodtech and quick commerce, has announced a remarkable 37% increase in its operating revenue, reaching Rs 6,812 crore for Q1 FY27, up from Rs 4,961 crore in the same quarter last year. The company’s losses have also narrowed by 34% within this timeframe.

Key Revenue Contributors

The primary revenue source for Swiggy was Scootsy Logistics, its supply chain and distribution division, which contributed nearly 47% of the overall operating revenue. Revenues in this segment surged by 41% year-on-year, amounting to Rs 3,195 crore compared to Rs 2,259 crore a year earlier.

Growth in Food Delivery and Quick Commerce

Swiggy’s food delivery operations and its quick commerce division exhibited substantial growth during the quarter. Revenue from food delivery increased by 23% year-on-year to Rs 2,208 crore, while Instamart, the quick commerce segment, recorded a remarkable 53% rise, reaching Rs 1,232 crore.

Other Revenue Streams

Additional income arose from various segments, including dine-out services and other initiatives, such as Bolt and Toing. Other income totalled Rs 211 crore, resulting in a total income of Rs 7,023 crore for Q1 FY27, a significant increase from Rs 5,048 crore in the comparable quarter last year.

Expense Overview

In terms of expenditures, procurement of materials was Swiggy’s largest cost component, amounting to Rs 2,975 crore during the quarter. Employee benefit expenses saw a slight decline of 3.5%, settling at Rs 662 crore. Advertising and promotional expenses were recorded at Rs 1,160 crore, while delivery costs were Rs 1,750 crore. Overall operational expenses brought the company’s total expenditures to Rs 7,813 crore in Q1 FY27.

Segment Performance

Segment-wise analysis shows that Swiggy’s food delivery sector maintained a positive EBITDA of Rs 299 crore, whereas the quick commerce division, Instamart, continued to experience losses with a negative EBITDA of Rs 651 crore during the quarter.

Financial Summary

Swiggy’s losses narrowed significantly by 34% year-on-year to Rs 791 crore in Q1 FY27 compared to Rs 1,197 crore in the same quarter last year, driven by strong revenue performance. From a sequential perspective, the company’s losses remained relatively stable at Rs 791 crore, similar to Rs 799 crore in Q4 FY26, with a revenue growth of 7% from Rs 6,383 crore.

Market Performance

On the stock market, Swiggy’s shares closed at Rs 295.91 on Thursday, reflecting a market capitalisation of Rs 81,098 crore ($8.53 billion).

Competitive Landscape

In the competitive arena, rival Eternal reported a profit of Rs 92 crore on an operating revenue of Rs 20,211 crore for Q1 FY27.
