India’s Electric Two-Wheeler Market Shows Positive Growth in June
India’s electric two-wheeler market is on the rise, with a recorded increase of 12.2% in registrations in June, reaching a total of 1.93 lakh units. TVS Motor has solidified its position ahead of Bajaj Auto, while Hero MotoCorp has demonstrated the fastest growth among the top five manufacturers. Meanwhile, Ola Electric has continued to lag behind its larger competitors, despite experiencing a slight increase in registrations.
TVS Motor Dominates the Electric Two-Wheeler Market
According to Vahan data, TVS Motor has maintained its leading position with 46,999 registrations, capturing a market share of 24.29%. The company saw an increase of 4,034 units compared to May, resulting in a healthy month-on-month growth rate of 9.4%.
Bajaj Auto Closing the Gap
Bajaj Auto has been narrowing the lead and sold 43,234 units, achieving a market share of 22.34%. The brand added 3,727 units over the month, also reflecting a 9.4% growth compared to the previous month.
Ather Energy Maintains Third Place
Ather Energy retained its third position with 31,188 registrations, which amounts to a 16.12% market share. Its sales have increased by 9.4%, up from 28,512 units in May.
Hero MotoCorp Reports Strong Growth
Hero MotoCorp held the fourth spot with 21,792 units, equating to an 11.26% market share. Amongst the leading contenders, Hero MotoCorp registered the most substantial month-on-month growth at 13.4%, with an increase of 2,578 units.
Ola Electric Sees Modest Recovery
Ola Electric is still trailing the top four players, although it did experience a modest improvement. The company recorded 16,144 units in June, marking a 6.1% increase from the 15,218 units in May, thus taking its market share to 8.34%.
Strong Performers Outside the Top Five
Outside the leading five manufacturers, Greaves Electric Mobility emerged as a notable performer, with a substantial 41.9% month-on-month increase in registrations, reaching 10,928 units. River Mobility and BGauss also showed positive growth rates of 16% and 18.7%, respectively.
E-Sprinto Green Energy Enjoys Remarkable Growth
Among smaller manufacturers, E-Sprinto Green Energy made significant strides, nearly doubling its registrations to reach 1,878 units.
Policy Support Enhancing Electric Mobility
The growth recorded in June coincides with increasing policy support for electric mobility in India. Recently, the Delhi government endorsed a new EV Policy that mandates only electric two-wheelers to be registered as new vehicles in the national capital starting from April 2028. Additionally, the policy offers purchase incentives of up to Rs 30,000 for electric two-wheelers in its first year, which aims to further boost EV adoption in one of the largest two-wheeler markets in the country.
