W Health Ventures Closes Second Fund at Rs 700 Crore

W Health Ventures, a venture firm focused on healthcare, has successfully raised its second fund, securing Rs 700 crore, which surpasses its target of Rs 630 crore. This fund aims to establish 8 to 10 healthcare companies, guiding them from the early idea stage to becoming leaders in their respective categories over the next four years.

Company-Creation Model

W Health Ventures employs a unique company-creation strategy. Their in-house team, comprising physicians, operators, and technologists, meticulously identifies gaps in healthcare delivery. They devote 12 to 18 months to assess and mitigate risks associated with potential opportunities before introducing a founding team.

Investment Strategy

The firm intends to invest between Rs 30 crore and Rs 50 crore, aiming to establish 2 to 3 new companies each year in India and along the US-India corridor. Fund II has already set in motion two companies.

Innovative Ventures

Among these new ventures, Everhope Oncology, developed in collaboration with Narayana Health, focuses on delivering coordinated, patient-centric cancer care. Meanwhile, Everbright Health is dedicated to creating solutions for treatment-resistant depression in the United States.

Reaching Patients

W Health Ventures has reported that its portfolio companies have collectively reached 25 million patients to date. Fund II is targeted at addressing significant, underserved healthcare challenges where innovative, first-mover solutions can lead to a large-scale impact.

History and Growth

Established in 2020, W Health Ventures has successfully launched companies such as Elevate Now, Nivaan, Hoola Health, and Everhope Oncology, with operational offices in Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi, and Boston.
