Wingreens Expands with Safe Harvest Acquisition
Wingreens, a prominent packaged food and beverage entity, has successfully completed the acquisition of the pesticide-free brand Safe Harvest through a share swap agreement. Alongside this, the company has finalised its Series D funding round, amounting to Rs 120 crore (approximately $12.6 million), primarily led by Ashish Kacholia, with additional support from Alchemy Fund. This recent funding elevates Wingreens’ total capital raised to Rs 556 crore. The previous significant fundraising event occurred in November 2021, when it secured Rs 124 crore (about $17 million) in an equity round spearheaded by Investcorp.
Wingreens’ Strategic Expansion in the Farm-to-Consumer Segment
The acquisition of Safe Harvest is a strategic move for Wingreens, which aims to amplify its footprint in the farm-to-consumer segment. The company operates under three prominent brands: Wingreens Farms, Raw Pressery, and Safe Harvest. Safe Harvest collaborates with over 100,000 farmers, primarily women, operating through Self Help Groups (SHGs) and Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs). The emphasis is on creating sustainable rural livelihoods and offering pesticide-free food products to Indian consumers.
Diverse Product Offerings
Safe Harvest boasts a diverse range of products that includes cereals, grains, pulses, millets, flours, whole spices, cold-pressed oils, natural sugars, and honey. The company prides itself on implementing 100% batch-wise pesticide testing and certification for all its products.
Investment in Growth and Innovation
The newly acquired capital will facilitate the expansion of Wingreens’ product portfolio, enhance distribution channels, integrate supply chains, and foster innovation while strengthening partnerships with farmers. By combining the strengths of Wingreens Farms, Raw Pressery, and Safe Harvest, the company aspires to create a robust food and beverage platform centred on health, transparency, sustainability, and inclusive growth.
Wingreens’ Brand Portfolio
Wingreens is the parent company of several brands, including Wingreens Farms, Raw Pressery, Wingreens Harvest, Saucery, and now Safe Harvest. Its extensive product portfolio features dips, spreads, sauces, mayonnaise, baked chips, muesli, granola bars, oats, juices, protein shakes, almond milk, iced teas, and lemonades.
