Aadhaar App Enhancement by UIDAI

Aadhaar app has been officially launched by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), featuring improvements that cater to everyday needs. This updated app allows users to conveniently update their mobile numbers linked to Aadhaar, verify identities using QR codes, selectively share Aadhaar information, and more.

The new Aadhaar app is now accessible for download on both the App Store for iPhone users and Google Play Store for Android users, ensuring wide availability for everyone.

New Features of the Aadhaar App

UIDAI has designed the updated Aadhaar app with a “Mobile First” strategy, facilitating easy access to essential Aadhaar services, including identity verification among others.

Mobile Number Update Feature

A highly requested feature is now the ability to update the mobile number associated with Aadhaar. The app includes a specific section on the main screen dedicated to making these changes.

Managing Family Aadhaar Details

The upgraded app also allows individuals to add and oversee Aadhaar information for up to five family members through the Profile section.

Offline Aadhaar Verification

One of the most notable functionalities is offline Aadhaar verification. Users can opt to keep their Aadhaar number private. The “Selective Share” option enables sharing of only certain details, such as name, photo, date of birth, address, gender, and mobile number.

This offline verification feature eliminates the need for sharing photocopies of Aadhaar for tasks like hotel check-ins or official verifications.

QR Code Features

Moreover, the application generates a QR code associated with the user’s Aadhaar details. This code is functional at authorized terminals, banks, and government offices, facilitating identification without presenting the physical Aadhaar card.

UIDAI has prioritised security and user-friendliness in the interface of the Aadhaar app across various platforms.

The initial introduction of this app occurred in November 2025; however, the complete version is now officially available for users to download on their devices.
