Premiere App for iPhone: Adobe Expands Video Editing to Mobile
Adobe is launching its Premiere app for iPhone, making significant advancements in mobile video editing. Set to be available on the App Store from 30 September, this app promises professional-grade editing capabilities in a format designed for mobile devices, and it will be free to download. An Android version is also on the way.
Enhanced Features of Premiere for Mobile
Unlike the previously released Premiere Rush, which was a more basic offering for mobile editors, the new Premiere app includes a comprehensive selection of tools akin to its desktop version. Users will benefit from a multi-track timeline that allows for unlimited video, audio, and text layers, alongside 4K HDR editing. Additionally, it offers straightforward export options for popular platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube Shorts. The app also features automatic resizing tailored for different social media channels, as well as stylish subtitles and auto-captioning functionalities.
AI Capabilities in Premiere App
Adobe is incorporating its Firefly-powered AI features directly into this new app. These enhancements consist of generative sound effects, AI-driven speech enhancement to minimise background noise, and the ability to create images, videos, and audio using text prompts. Moreover, users will have access to Adobe’s extensive stock library, which includes music, graphics, photos, video assets, fonts, and Lightroom presets.
Pricing and Accessibility
The Premiere app for iPhone will be free to use without any watermarks on exports. Users who wish to unlock additional cloud storage or AI credits for advanced features will incur extra charges.
Streamlined Experience for Creators
Adobe aims to provide creators with the same level of editing control that professionals utilise for commercials, music videos, and films, all within a simplified interface that is ideal for smartphones. This launch comes as competition increases in the mobile video editing space, with alternatives like Meta’s Edits app and the rising Captions platform catering to short-form content creators.
Adobe’s Commitment to Mobile Tools
Over the past year, Adobe has been increasingly extending its creative tools to mobile platforms. Earlier in the year, the company introduced Photoshop for iOS and rolled out a beta version for Android, in addition to standalone Firefly applications on both operating systems. With the inclusion of Premiere in its mobile offerings, Adobe aims to make high-quality creative tools more accessible for the millions of creators who focus primarily on mobile editing.
