OffBeat Studios Secures Rs 100 Crore Seed Funding
OffBeat Studios, co-founded by Aman Gupta, has successfully raised Rs 100 crore in seed funding, led by Bessemer Venture Partners. This pivotal moment marks Gupta’s first significant venture after stepping back from his role in the consumer electronics brand Boat.
Funding Driven by Strategic Value
In a LinkedIn announcement, Gupta explained that his motivation for raising capital was less about financial necessity and more focused on the strategic advantages offered by the investors. He stated that the expertise of investors like Anant and Vishal, as well as Bessemer’s global partners, provides speed, credibility, and networking opportunities that transcend monetary value.
Future Focused on Technology and AI
Gupta emphasised his intent to build OffBeat Studios with a solid foundation in technology and artificial intelligence, aligning with current global trends in startup innovation. He conveyed his prior experience in capital utilisation, noting that his quest this time is for partners with a worldwide outlook who can assist in harnessing technology and AI innovations, as this is where future opportunities lie.
Transitioning from Boat Amid IPO Plans
This funding announcement follows Gupta’s unveiling of OffBeat Studios in March, shortly after he transitioned to a non-executive director role at Boat in September 2025. The company appointed Gaurav Nayyar as CEO while co-founder Sameer Mehta shifted to an executive director role that concentrates on strategy.
Renewed IPO Attempts
The leadership changes coincide with Boat’s renewed efforts to go public. After putting a Rs 2,000 crore IPO on hold in 2022, the company has revived its listing ambitions in 2025, initially filing confidential documents in April, followed by an updated draft red herring prospectus for a Rs 1,500 crore issue.
Nevertheless, recent reports indicate that Boat has once again paused its IPO plans to reevaluate market conditions and ensure internal readiness.
