Apple Sales Growth in India for 2024-25
Apple’s sales in India nearly hit $9 billion during the financial year 2024-25, representing a 13% increase from last year, as reported by Bloomberg.
iPhones and MacBooks Drive Apple’s Revenue
The majority of Apple’s revenue in India originated from iPhones, while MacBooks also experienced significant demand. This strong performance is particularly notable as global mobile device sales have stalled, allowing Apple to gain traction in one of its fastest-growing markets.
New Apple Store Openings in India
Apple CEO Tim Cook recently announced the opening of two new stores in Bengaluru and Pune, complementing the existing locations in Mumbai and Delhi. Cook expressed excitement through a post on X, highlighting the addition of Apple Hebbal in Bengaluru and Apple Koregaon Park in Pune.
Expansion of Apple’s Retail Presence
With these new openings, Apple’s official store count in India has reached four, and more outlets are on the horizon in Noida and Mumbai set for 2026. The company initiated its online store in India in 2020, progressing to physical stores by 2023.
India’s Role in Apple’s Supply Chain
India has also become increasingly important in Apple’s supply chain. Currently, one in five iPhones is manufactured in the country, with production spread across five factories, including two recently launched facilities. This strategy forms part of Apple’s effort to lessen its dependency on China, where demand has seen a downturn.
Production Growth in India
Bloomberg indicated that Apple assembled 60% more iPhones in India in FY25, amounting to an estimated value of $22 billion. This growth aligns with Apple’s larger objective to develop India as not just a market for sales but also a key production hub globally.
Market Positioning in India
Currently, India ranks as Apple’s fourth-largest market worldwide, following the US, China, and Japan. With a consumer base eager to invest in premium devices and governmental support for local manufacturing, analysts predict that Apple’s market share in India will keep expanding.
