iPhone Pocket: A Stylish Accessory from Apple and ISSEY MIYAKE
iPhone Pocket is a groundbreaking accessory that Apple and the prestigious design firm ISSEY MIYAKE have introduced, set to redefine how individuals wear and transport their essential devices.
This innovative product was revealed on November 11, 2025, stemming from a productive partnership anchored in mutual philosophies of craftsmanship, minimalism, and functionality. Drawing inspiration from the Japanese design principle of “a piece of cloth,” the iPhone Pocket is made to accommodate all iPhone models alongside other small essentials. It will be available for purchase from Friday, November 14, on Apple.com and in selected Apple Stores across various global markets.
3D Knit Design and Utility
The heart of the iPhone Pocket’s design lies in its unique 3D-knitted structure created by ISSEY MIYAKE. This ribbed design mirrors the brand’s famed pleated garments, allowing it to adapt to the shape of any iPhone while also fitting additional pocket-sized items such as AirPods or keys. This has led to some likening it to an iPhone “sock.”
The design completely envelops the device. However, when stretched, the open fabric showcases part of the phone’s screen, providing a quick glimpse at incoming notifications.
The Pocket can be attached to bags or worn directly, offering a choice of eight colours for the short strap version (priced at $149.95/ ~ Rs. 13,300) and three colours available for the long strap version (at $229.95/ ~Rs. 20,400).
Why it Exists, Why it Matters – As per Apple
Yoshiyuki Miyamae, the design director at MIYAKE DESIGN STUDIO, articulated the emotional connection this accessory forges with users. He noted that the iPhone Pocket embodies the relationship between the iPhone and its owner, exploring the notion of “the joy of wearing the iPhone in a personalised manner.” He remarked that the simplicity inherent in its design reflects the principles upheld at ISSEY MIYAKE, focusing on leaving aspects less defined to invite possibilities and personal interpretation.
Echoing this perspective, Apple’s Vice President of Industrial Design, Molly Anderson, commended the partnership’s achievements. She highlighted that both Apple and ISSEY MIYAKE adopt a design philosophy that cherishes craftsmanship, simplicity, and enjoyment. Anderson referred to the accessory as a “clever extra pocket” and stressed the carefully chosen colour palette, which has been “intentionally designed to harmonise with all our iPhone models and colours, allowing users to curate their unique combinations.”
A Nod to the Past
The last time Apple introduced a product of this nature was in 2004 with the launch of “Socks” (Protective Cover) for the iPod. Those were priced significantly lower at $29 (~$49/Rs. 4345 – Price Converted and Adjusted for Inflation as of 2025). The iPhone Pocket appears to be a modern reimagining of that previous concept, elevating it from mere utility into a luxurious fashion statement for contemporary users. It will be launched on November 14 and will be accessible in select Apple stores and on Apple.com in countries such as France, Greater China, the US, the UK, Singapore, Italy, South Korea, and Japan.
At present, Apple has yet to disclose any official plans for its launch in India.
