Apple AirTag 2 introduces significant enhancements after almost five years, featuring an extended finding range and a boosted speaker volume. This compact device plays a crucial role for many in locating lost items such as luggage, keys, bicycles, bags, and more. It assists users in tracking their belongings and offers safeguards against unwarranted tracking.
Apple AirTag 2: New Features and Enhancements
The Apple AirTag 2 incorporates a second-generation Ultra Wideband chip, which is also found in the latest iPhone 17 models, Apple Watch Series 11, and Apple Watch Ultra 3. This advanced chip purportedly enhances Precision Finding, delivering improved guidance through haptic, visual, and audio feedback.
According to Apple’s official statement, the new chip allows users to locate items from a distance up to 50% greater compared to the previous AirTag. Additionally, it comes with an upgraded Bluetooth chip, claiming to extend its range. Users of Apple Watch Series 9 or later can also take advantage of Precision Finding, adding to its convenience.
Sound Improvements
The new AirTag boasts a volume that is 50% louder than its predecessor, making it easier to find in noisy settings or when it is concealed under furniture or inside bags.
Location Sharing Features
This device also supports Share Item Location, allowing users to temporarily share the live location of their lost items with trusted individuals or organisations, such as airlines. Apple has collaborated with 50 airlines to accept Share Item Location links, enhancing its functionality.
Apple AirTag 2 Pricing and Availability
The Apple AirTag 2 is introduced at similar price points. It is priced at $29 for a single unit and $99 for a package of four. In India, the pricing is set at Rs. 3,790 for an individual AirTag and Rs. 12,900 for a four-pack.
It is essential to note that the new AirTag will require iPhones operating on iOS 16 or later versions for functionality.
